The hike isn't difficult except for the fact it will be dark and there are times when you need to follow rock cairns (piles of rocks) to get across slickrock. As you make the final ascent you will pass a small window arch that you can look through and see Delicate Arch, it's an amazing view. After the sunrises head back to the visitor center and sign up for a guided hike through the Fiery Furnace. This will take the morning half of the day.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Enjoy the morning half day riding in a Hummer or Jeep through Hell's Revenge slickrock trail. You will be amazed how the tires of these vehicles stick to the slickrock as you go up and down the hills. If you're lucky you might run into some "rock crawler"' trying to make it out of "Mickey's Hot Tub" or the "Car Wash" or perhaps you can talk your driver into going over "Tip Over Challenge."
  • In the afternoon, drive down Scenic Byway 279, also known as, Potash road. Here you can see Ancient Indian writings, rock climbers climbing shear cliffs on the edge of the road, dinosaur tracks and if you continue on it takes you to the trail head for the hike to Corona and Bowtie Arch. Corona Arch is large enough that a pilot flew his single prop plane through it.
