The Ogden, Utah, area is a center for skiing and adventure sports. Located 40 miles north of Salt Lake City, Ogden is gateway to Snowbasin, Powder Mountain and Wolf Mountain ski resorts. Historically, Ogden was a major player in the development of the Transcontinental Railroad. Golden Spike National Historic Site, located northwest of the city, commemorates the completion of the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads. That event marked the beginning of the end of the American frontier.
